What is Amniotic Injection Therapy?

What is Amniotic Injection Therapy?

Amniotic Injection Therapy is a type of regenerative treatment option that is associated with the stem cell family of treatment therapies. It is FDA approved as a tissue product, which helps to manage the healing environment for pain and inflammation associated with many foot and ankle conditions. The goal is to facilitate regenerative healing of the underlying damaged tissue, reduce pain, and get the patient back to normal activities.

While cortisone and other drugs may only provide temporary relief, amniotic injections actually restore degenerated tissue while also providing pain relief. What’s more, these injections contain hyaluronic acid, which lubricates joints and tendons, relieves pain, and helps restore mobility.

What is Amniotic Tissue?

Amniotic tissue is obtained during a Caesarean Section procedure. During pregnancy, the placenta, umbilical cord, and amniotic fluid nourish the fetus. After the C-section is performed, this tissue is often discarded; but, if the mother consents to donate it, this can be used for various medical conditions. There is no risk of patient rejection with Amniotic Injection therapy. It also raises no ethical or moral questions. Harvesting amniotic stem cells is a highly regulated procedure to help ensure the health and safety of the donors and recipients.

Amniotic tissue therapy is 100% safe. Currently in the United States, there has not been a single reported adverse side effect or patient rejection. It has no DNA in them, making them neutral and allowing everyone to be a match. All amniotic donors must go through an extensive screening process, as determined by the FDA and the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB).
